Spencer Charles is a typographic designer, letterer, and illustrator currently residing in Brooklyn, New York. He received his design education at the University of Utah, interning with the Book Arts Program in 2010. His interest in hand-lettering developed as a chalkboard/signage artist for Whole Foods. In 2011, he moved to New York to work as Senior Designer at Louise Fili Ltd, a design studio specializing in logo, food package, and book design. During that time he taught a Skillshare course on lettering with Adobe Illustrator, and self-published two typefaces. He is now currently working independently.

    Illuminated Ampersand

    An ampersand serves as the unifying compositional element in this hot foil stamped and screenprinted piece. Intricate linework is used to abstract the form.

    Alphabet in Stained Glass

    Some 400 individual pieces of glass were cut by hand, grinded, wrapped with copper foil and soldered together to create this stained glass window.
