ADC Announces YG9 Launch Event: A Young Guns Parade and Funeral March for Fighters and Lovers”
The Art Directors Club, the premier organization for integrated media and the first global creative collective of its kind, will hold an extraordinary event to support the launch of the ADC Young Guns 9(www.adcyoungguns.org/) competition for creatives and designers age 30 or younger.
Entitled “A Young Guns Parade and Funeral March for Fighters and Lovers” and taking place on March 24, 2011, 7:00-11:00 pm at the ADC Gallery, the event will continue the dramatic and dark “secret society” theme designed for this year’s call for entries byNessim Higson (YG5, iamalwayshungry.com) to express the message that creatives are in a constant battle to fight for their work.
Opening the evening in appropriately outrageous fashion will be live entertainment by theGorgeous Ladies of Blood Wrestling (G.L.O.B., facebook.com/bloodwrestling), who describe themselves as “live lady warriors, with ridiculous vendettas, wrestling in fake blood to punk!” They will be followed by a performance from Brooklyn band Nihiti, whose album “Other People’s Memories” was recently released on the Lo Bit Landscapes label (nihiti.com, soundcloud.com/nihiti). The night also features DJ sets from The Surveyor.
Creatives outside New York or otherwise unable to attend on March 24 can still be part of the “A Young Guns Parade and Funeral March for Fighters and Lovers” event by participating beforehand in the ADC Young Guns 9 “I Fight For” project (www.adcyoungguns.org/enter/ifightfor/). Simply send a zip file email@example.com (subject line “I Fight For”) containing a black and white headshot with your best fighting face, and a text file with name, location and answer to the question “What do you fight for?” Images and text from participants will be enlarged and featured on the walls of the ADC Gallery the night of the party. Submissions must be received by March 22 midnight.
