ADC Announces Global Winners of ADC Young Guns 8 Competition For Creatives Age 30 and Under
The Art Directors Club (www.adcglobal.org), the leading organization for integrated media and the first global creative collective of its kind, has announced the 50 young creatives from 14 countries to claim the prestigious ADC Young Guns 8 title.
ADC Young Guns® is the only international, cross-disciplinary, portfolio-based awards competition that identifies today’s vanguard of young creative professionals age 30 or younger. Selected from entries received from 37 countries, these ADC Young Guns 8 winners represent an impressive global roster of young talent in the fields of graphic design, illustration, advertising and art direction, environmental design, film, animation & video, interactive design, product design and typography.

ADC Young Guns 8 winners exhibition opening party October 7, 2010: The exhibition opening party, sponsored by Adobe and Ace Hotel, will be held at the gallery on October 7, 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm (free to ADC members, $20 for non-members). Whiskey and cocktails supplied by Tuthilltown Spirits, beer from Brooklyn Brewery and food from Grandaisy Bakery. A color photo booth will be on hand at the event, courtesy of Photo Illusion, LLC, and DJ for the evening will be Pretty Girls & Lasers. With this year’s program, ADC begins a new tradition: a newly redesigned ADC Young Guns Cube award will be presented to every new class of winners. A new award will be designed and produced in a limited edition of 50 for each class of winners.
Work from this year’s winners will be printed in a commemorative, limited-edition volume published exclusively for the Art Directors Club by Moleskine®, and selected pieces will also be available in November 2010 as part of ADC’s permanent collection online. Along with receiving an ADC Young Guns Cube, the winners receive a complimentary one-year ADC Cube Club membership to ADC, and an assortment of career-boosting benefits from ADC Young Guns sponsors, including Adobe, Ace Hotel, Behance and Surface Magazine.
This year’s 50 winners joins an elite group of past ADC Young Guns, including then-rising stars who went on to become leaders in their chosen fields such as Stefan Sagmeister and James Victore (graphic design), Deanne Cheuk (illustration), Jeremy Floto and Cassandra Warner (aka floto+warner, photography), Alexander Gelman (advertising), Rei Inamoto and Jerome Austria (interactive), Mike Mills (film and video), Alex Trochut (typography), Todd St. John (animation) and others.
To elevate the spirit of competition among ADC Young Guns and encourage a strong sense of community, a panel of 30 past ADC Young Guns served as the jury for this year’s competition.
The ADC Young Guns speaking series at Apple Stores, started in 2009, has extended to include events at Apple Stores in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Santa Monica, Sydney, Paris and London. These events showcase winners from all classes of ADC Young Guns; this year’s speakers have included Scott Stowell (YG3), PJ Richardson (YG5), Stewart Smith (YG7), Eva Kolenko (YG5), Jason Munn (YG5), Julien Valée (YG6) and Greg Brunkalla (YG6). ADC Young Guns 8 winners will become eligible to participate in this high-visibility program in the coming months.
