Pablo Medina: NYC SoHo Apple Store Live Event
Pablo Medina will be appearing live at the NYC SoHo Apple Store on January 27th at 6PM to kick off our 2014 ADC Young Guns speaker series at Apple stores around the world. His story as an artist and designer runs parallel with the 1984 release of the most important tool for designers in the 20th century, the Macintosh. By presenting the story of his own work starting in 1986, he will discuss how the Mac played an important role in DIY culture from typesetting for band posters, to the accessibility of designing typefaces to the ability of a self-taught filmmaker to produce an award winning film.
Pablo will present typefaces that he designed for David Carson in the mid-90s, a trailer for a documentary film that he directed and produced in the 2000s and a series of paintings inspired by hand-painted signage that he created as an artist-in-residence in San Francisco in 2011. He will finish his talk by premiering a short video of his latest collaboration called ‘What Would You Change?,’ a large wallpaper mural that is currently installed in the lobby of the main building of Parsons the New School for Design on 2 West 13th St in Manhattan.
