Geoff Green: One Block, Brooklyn

With so many of our products and clothing manufactured far afield from where we live, how can an object signify a place? In his photo project “One Block, Brooklyn” Geoff Green employs objects that have been used and discarded (a.k.a. trash) to represent a single New York City block:

“The object is taken from the gutter, photographed, and printed. The final print is then taken to the street to absorb the impact of the original environment, its weather, foot, and vehicular traffic. Each print becomes a unique object.”
